Maailmasta Luopumisen Lauluja

The title of this exhibition is from the poet and philosopher Jan Zwicky’s book of poetry,
Songs for Relinquishing the Earth.
In her latest book of philosophy, Learning to Die, Wisdom in the Age of Climate Crisis,
Zwicky insists that there is a Socratic necessity to see things as they are and to have the
humility and self control to accept responsibility. We must retain harmony within ourselves
in order to cherish what is before us now and feel compassion in the crisis to come. Nature
will survive, as it always does, but in Zwicky’s opinion our civilisation will probably not.

These paintings are lyrical, as is our planet. Each detail is essential and resonates with all
aspects of the whole. The Shiveluch Series is inspired by the 2017 eruption of Shiveluch, a
volcano that for the past 80,000 years has succeeded in reminding the human species that
man must bend to nature. In the Small Songs series I search through my own memories of
nature.

It is time to say goodbye to
the beauty that is before us.

Tämän näyttelyn nimi tulee filosofi-runoilija Jan Zwickyn runokokoelmasta ”Songs for
Relinquishing the Earth”.
Hänen viimeisimmässä filosofiaa käsittelevästä kirjassaan ”Learning to Die, Wisdom in the
Age of Climate Crisis”, Zwicky vaatii että meistä täytyy löytyä sokraattista nöyryyttä ja
itsehillintää nähdä todellisuus sellaisena kuin se on. Meidän täytyy löytää tasapaino
itsessämme, jotta voimme suhtautua myötätuntoisesti ja arvostaen tulevaisuuteemme.

Nämä maalaukset ovat runollisia, aivan kuten planeettammekin. Jokainen detalji on
välttämätön ja resonoi kokonaisuuden kaikissa osasissa. Shiveluch-sarja on saanut
inspiraationsa Shiveluchin 2017 tulivuorenpurkauksesta. Tämä vuori on muistuttanut
